“Come get your ‘mote totes!!!” my 5 year old son would yell bright and early on a Sunday morning at the local swap meet. It was only fit that I brought him with me every weekend to help sell our new invention. After all, he was the one who inspired me to create the business in the first place. But it was my husband who initially sparked the idea for this product when he came to me with a unique but not so uncommon problem and we soon found out. The loop on his car alarm remote broke. After many failed attempts at drilling new holes to reattach his keys and a trip to the dealership (who by the way wanted $98.00 for a new a remote and $30.00 to program the new remote, when the old one worked just fine) he finally came to me and asked if I could sew him up a pouch. So I did. I sewed him up an ugly little pouch with a hole at the top so he could plop his remote in there and reattach his keys. Later that night when he got home from work he tells me some of his buddies are having the same problem and asked if I could make a couple more pouches for them. In fact they all thought the “Remote Tote” was a great idea and thought that we should market the idea.

I personally thought that they were abusing their remotes, as men often do.
It wasn’t until my lovely, handsome, athletic, intelligent, son (who is now my partner in all of this and revamping my old website into this out of the pure goodness of his heart) slobbered all over my remote when he was a toddler, that I truly began to pursue this. I gave him my keys one day at the super market to keep him quiet (to shut him up) not thinking about the car alarm remote. Sure enough he drooled ALL over it. But, it still worked; that is until two weeks later, and then the corrosion set in (that would be the rusty stuff), and my remote would no longer work. I had an older alarm that did not have a by-pass, which resulted with me being stranded in the parking lot one day. It was after that day I knew. People need this.

Necessity is the mother of invention. We obtained a utility patent and first started by promoting the “Remote Totes” at the Orange County Swap meet. At that time we realized how many people were looking for a product like this. Remote Totes were created out of pure necessity. They not only wanted our product to reattach their remotes, but the majority wanted to prevent the problem from ever occurring.
